We have started going here most Friday nights and have had some terrific steak, the scotch fillet is beautiful and there are a range of options to have with it like sauces and/or toppings like garlic prawns or squid etc and are all very nice. We can highly recommend them. The cheaper option of rump is also nice if you prefer rump. I try to have something different now and again since the husband is the regular steak man, the stirfry chicken or beef is always tasty and so filling, sometimes specials off the board include Bluebone fish with creamy garlic mussels is a welcome change along with Salmon with sweet potato and Mediterranean vegetables is another favourite of mine. The son often has chicken parmigiana which is always huge and tasty, fills his hollow legs! Pasta is also on his menu. Tried the ribs recently and they have a tasty sauce, some was a little tough which is unusual as have had them some time back and they were melt in your mouth. Friday night means "Pick a box" which is always fun with great prizes and the meat raffle is always on offer too.

Be sure to book before coming. We went on a Thursday and all the inside tables were fully booked. Had a great time here. In general, food was cooked well (the skin on the pork belly was unfortunately a little tough, but everything else was great) and portion sizes were generous. They have a specials board next to the counter so make sure to check it out before ordering too.

Went here for our first night in Kalbarri, I ordered the beef brisket. And it was DELUXE, the beef was very tender, mash was perfect and the veggies were well cooked. Didn't have an opportunity to take a photo cause the food was gone that quickly.

Food is just fine, very good price performance. Staffs are friendly and helpful. A perfect place for a short break in the ride between Hutt Lagoon and Kalbarri National Park

We are Lilly and Skye labradors travelling around Australia with mum and dad. Last night it was date night, so we stayed in the van watching a movie "Beethoven" with some snacks. Mum and dad went out for a drink or 2 at the Gilgai Tavern before dinner. They did not eat here, but will do Thursday night. Beer and wine was cold and the view of the coastline was magnificent. Mum and dad came back here Thursday night. Dad had the lamb chops mum had a schnitzel. We stayed in the van hoping they will bring us a doggy bag but no they ate all of the food.

A-ma-zing food, staff, overall atmosphere. 10/10 pasta was perfect so was the steak. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Could not recommend more

As other reviewers have said, the owner may have been a little less than friendly, but the other staff were very friendly. The food was excellent. I ordered a steak, and the sauce was delicious. The price was also reasonable.

We had a really good experience on this lovely Tavern. We stayed close by for two days, first evening we enjoyed drinks until late. The next day we had a delicious lunch. The food was of a very high quality standard and very plentiful. We returned that evening again for drinks. The staff were very nice and friendly , a wide selection of drinks. Couldn’t recommend this place more 5 star experience. Thanks

Just wanted to share our appreciation. We called with only 5 to 10min before the kitchen was closing, and the staff catered for our late take away request. The food was good, reasonably priced and staff were pleasant and kind. Thank you again for feeding us hungry people late on a Sunday evening.

We had dinner at Gilgai Tavern in Kalbarri on the 28th of December and had a great night. The bacon and mushroom carbonara was amazing, rich, creamy, and so good I ate every last bite. Portions were generous and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The owner was lovely and even had a joke with me, which made the experience feel extra warm and personal. Staff were friendly and efficient. A great spot for a casual dinner, we’d definitely return.
